Kids will have a blast filling the long summer days and nights with fun and exciting seasonal-themed games and activities.

Switch off the television and venture outside with a few friends for a splash of cool summer fun! Playing outside during summer break is a great way for kids to soak up the fresh summer air and stay healthy by exercising their muscles.

Human Inner Tube Toss

A unique twist on the traditional ring toss game, kids will get a kick out of testing their hand-to-eye coordination during a game of Human Inner Tube Toss. Gather a group of at least three, and a half dozen inflated swim rings to play. The object of the game is to toss a swim ring so that it lands over the opponents' head.

To start, give each player a swim ring, instructing them to run around the designated game area, and try to score a point by tossing it over one of the moving targets (a.k.a. the other players' necks.) Once a swim ring lands around a player's neck, he should remove it and try to toss it onto another player. Play continues for 10 minutes. Before the match begins, designate a score keeper, who will note how many times each player successfully tosses a ring, earning one point. The player with the most points wins.

Melt the Ice Cube Race

The Ice Cube Race is certain to cool down players on a hot summer day. To prepare for the game, purchase approximately six ice cube trays, depending on the number of participants, and a large bag of Skittles. Fill up the ice cube trays with water, dropping two or three Skittles into each of the ice cube compartments and freeze until set.

Give all of the kids that are playing an equal amount of the Skittle-filled ice cubes. The object of the game is to melt the ice cubes by sucking on them, rubbing them between hands, etc., and retrieve the Skittles the fastest. Kids can snack on the candy once the race is over.

Surprise-Inside Water Balloon "Fight"

Who doesn't love a good old-fashioned water balloon fight? Kids will be delighted to discover that these water balloons are filled with more than just water though. To play the water balloon game, purchase a package of water balloons and several small prizes like bouncy balls and stickers. Next, cut up several small squares of paper and number consecutively using a ball point pen. Roll up the numbered pieces of paper and insert a slip into about half of the water balloons. Give the prizes a number as well, coinciding with the numbers placed inside the balloons.

Then fill all of the water balloons up with water per package directions. Once the preparation is done set the kids loose to throw the water balloons at one another. As the water balloons break, players should keep their eyes peeled for those numbered pieces of paper, collecting those they spot. At the end of the water balloon fight, kids can redeem the numbered slips for the coinciding prizes.

This summer stop boredom in its tracks by herding kids outside for a round of seasonal-themed games and activities that are guaranteed to delight.
