Pokemon party supplies and invitations are not easy to find. You can print your own invites and thank-yous using the DLTK web site. You can also print out find-a-words, crosswords, and other paper-and-pencil games there. But most Pokemon-themed parties will be for kids in an age group, such as 7 to 12, where children need to move around and burn energy. Here are some active Pokemon-themed games.

The Name on the Back Game

On a sheet of sticky labels, write the name of various Pokemon characters, such as Ash, Pikachu, Chimchar, Piplup, Turtwig, and others. Don't let the children see the list. Have them come to you one at a time and face away from you so you can peel and stick one of the names on their back. Once they are all labeled, let them ask each other yes-and-no questions such as "Am I a fire type?" or "Do I evolve?". Prizes can be awarded for either the first child who got it right or each child gets a prize once they have guessed correctly who they are. Hand out a Pokemon trading card as the prize.

Pin the Tail on Pikachu

Find a poster-sized piece of paper to draw your own Pikachu, minus the lightning-bolt shaped tail. Then cut out the tail shape from construction paper. Put pieces of double-stick tape on the back of the tails. Blindfold the children, spin them around a few times, and have them try to pin the tail on Pikachu. Whoever gets closest wins a Pokemon trading card.

Pokemon Card Walk

This is conducted the same way that a cake walk would be. Put numbers on paper plates - one for each child at the party. Also write each number on a strip of paper and fold them and put them in a bowl. Then instruct each child to stand on a numbered plate. Start playing some music (check Youtube for Pokemon theme music). Stop the music randomly and have every child stop on a plate. Then draw a number from the bowl and whoever is on that number wins a Pokemon card. You can also play an elimination game in which the number called means that play and child must sit out. Keep going until there is only one child left.

Pokemon Trivia Game

Kids can play individually or be divided into two teams. The parent plays the part of emcee and asks the kids trivia questions about Pokemon. Pokemon cards can be awarded at the end for most questions right, or for who gets each question right during the game.

Pokemon Themed Cake

The easiest type of Pokemon cake to make is a Pokeball. Simply make a round cake and decorate it with red, white, and black frosting to look like a Pokeball. With a little more effort, you can make individual Pokeballs for the children out of cupcakes.

A Pokemon themed birthday will be one to remember. Even the guests won't soon forget this party when they go home with new trading cards!
